Organizational Profile

The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is a professional membership organization that works to promote high-quality early learning for all young children, birth through age 8, by connecting early childhood practice, policy, and research. NAEYC advances a diverse, dynamic early childhood profession and supports all who care for, educate, and work on behalf of young children.

Position Description

NAEYC is seeking a summer intern to support the higher education staff in advancing work to better understand the characteristics (productivity, design, quality) of early childhood degree programs as well as understanding the impact of NAEYC accreditation on program quality. 

Major Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Populate the optional data points for program profiles in the NAEYC Early Childhood Higher Education Directory.
  • Gather qualitative data from accredited programs about the impact of accreditation on program design, graduates' employment outcomes, and graduates' readiness to teach.
  • Support the Research Analyst in creating databases on the higher education accreditation system.
  • Support staff in preparing to move to a new online platform to house program data in the accreditation system.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • College student or recent graduate.
  • Candidates should have an interest in the early childhood education field, accreditation, and/or non-profit organizations.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize work.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Potential candidates should also be interested in the opportunity to brainstorm and develop ideas in a team environment, be technologically savvy and enjoy finding new tools to improve work efficiency.
  • Availability to work 30-35 hours per week for 8-10 consecutive weeks.

Salary

  • $14.25 per hour
