The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is a professional membership organization that works to promote high-quality early learning for all young children, birth through age 8, by connecting early childhood practice, policy, and research. Position Description

NAEYC seeks an effective candidate who is responsible for managing the quality improvement and program support components of accreditation with attention to program recruitment and retention, high quality customer support, training and technical assistance. This position will be highly effective in managing a team, ensuring integrity and accountability in every member's performance, and constant professional growth opportunities for all. The Director also identifies opportunities for close collaboration with other accreditation teams and NAEYC departments to ensure appropriate resources and messaging are developed and delivered to customers engaged in quality improvement and accreditation.

Major Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Leads the accreditation team responsible for providing training, technical, motivational, and process support to programs progressing through the accreditation process.
  • Cultivates a healthy work culture with particular focus on shared leadership, collaboration, innovation, inclusion, accountability, and data-informed decision making.
  • Builds transferable relationships with existing customers, anticipating needs for solutions through regular communication and outreach.
  • Oversees accreditation customer account management.
  • Builds new business relationships using existing industry contacts.
  • Creates and curates professional development resources and supports to meet the needs of programs seeking NAEYC accreditation and supports successful product implementation.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Director, Early Learning Programs, ensures accreditation messaging and all program communications are clear and consistent.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on NAEYC accreditation content, process, products and services.
  • Analyzes customer feedback and inquiries to identify growth opportunities and emerging markets.
  • Identifies key customer obstacles and develops innovative solutions to solve them.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • Baccalaureate degree required. Master's degree a plus
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience leading staff, contractors, and/or volunteers
  • Strong knowledge of early childhood education content, current issues, and professional development needs and strategies
  • Extensive instructional experience and ability to deliver content through a variety of channels including training, technical assistance, coaching, peer to peer communities, and multimedia resources
  • Ability to positively influence, motivate, and engage staff and other stakeholders
  • Strong experience in program implementation support
  • Demonstrated capacity to recruit, onboard, support, and evaluate
