The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is a professional membership organization that works to promote high-quality early learning for all young children, birth through age 8, by connecting early childhood practice, policy, and research. Position Description

NAEYC seeks a Quality Assurance Coordinator to provide customer service to support the work of the accreditation system. The Coordinator works with program staff members and NAEYC Academy staff members to monitor programs once they achieve accreditations to ensure the status is maintained.

Major Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Answer Quality Assurance related phone calls, and either responds to the inquiry or routes to the appropriate party
  • Process and analyze possible violations of required criteria
  • Work with Child Care Program staff in the Accreditation Process
  • Provides technical assistance, guidance, and interpretation of policies and procedures to Child Care Program staff.
  • Responds to all child care program submitting a 72 hour notification from the Quality Assurance Department
  • Reviews and analyzes all submitted 72 hour notification incident(s) and supporting documentation
  • Determines if an incident(s) at a child care program is in violation of NAEYC's required criteria policy through obtaining and assessing the documentation provided by the program
  • Compiles and organizes all relevant documentation related to the incident(s) for review by the Scope and Severity Committee
  • Responds to incoming calls through the Academy's hunt group pertaining to the department and Academy
  • Acts as backup liaison between program staff and the Scope and Severity Committee
  • Collaborates with program staff members to obtain additional information regarding the incident(s) under review when necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

 Qualifications:

  • Associates degree required
  • 2-3 years clerical/administrative experience
  • Prior experience working in early childhood education or a related field preferred

  • Excels in effective and positive interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions based on the Academy's policies and procedures
  • Expresses empathy and provides clear and concise expectations
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to identify, analyze, and resolve problems with tact, inclusive of the appropriate follow-up
  • Uses systematic methods to multi-task and maintain a responsive and professional demeanor
  • Demonstrates needed computer skills MS Office, GroupWise, database management
  • Thoroughly analyzes conditions of compliance for consistent decisions with team
