The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is a professional membership organization that works to promote high-quality early learning for all young children, birth through age 8, by connecting early childhood practice, policy, and research. NAEYC advances a diverse, dynamic early childhood profession and supports all who care for, educate, and work on behalf of young children.

 

Position Description

NAEYC seeks a Marketing Specialist to track and report on the processes involved in launching marketing initiatives. This person will manage the launch of all marketing campaigns including generating and managing recipient lists.

The Marketing Specialist will also be responsible for tracking the results of initiatives and supplying the team with that data in a clear format.

 

Major Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Create, maintain, and report on the schedules for all NAEYC marketing campaigns.
  • Assist in ensuring that all marketing initiatives stay on schedule in order to achieve optimal results.
  • Implement and launch all print and digital marketing campaigns by utilizing the NAEYC email marketing system, social media platforms and by working with appropriate staff members to ensure that production details are correct and on schedule.
  • Manage the collection of recipient lists for initiatives via the AMS database, internal collections or by purchase.
  • Utilize all available resources to track and collect data on the results on every marketing campaign. Compile that data into an easy-to-use format for management to elevate.
  • Assist with the management of the YPAC (Young Professional Advisory Council) calendar and recruitment process.
  • Responsible for posting content and updating schedules to the NAEYC Affiliate Resources online web pages.
  • Assist with updating web content as it pertains to content and marketing initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with related departments including Creative Services Web Strategy, Conferences and Meetings, Corporate Strategic Alliances, Content Strategy and others.
  • Target and engage specific NAEYC audiences, including members, non-members, teachers of children age 0-8, school directors and administrators, faculty of early education programs, parents and others.
  • Manage the collection and management of various lists and data sets needed to conduct targeted marketing.
  • Oversee the management of NAEYC's email marketing efforts in collaborations with NAEYC's Marketing and Membership Manager.
  • Coordinate efforts with NAEYC marketing plans that include well-developed timelines, with clear action items for individuals involved. Work across departments to ensure adherence to timelines in order to keep plans on track.
  • Continuously make recommendations to improve efforts based on lessons learned, best practice and past results.

 

Qualifications, Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

  • Associate's degree required, preferably in a related field (e.g. marketing, communications, journalism, public relations).
  • Two years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience working for a nonprofit membership associations and/or communications agencies is a plus.
  • Experience with email marketing software is required.
  • Experience using association management software to conduct member research, develop targeted audience sub-groups and evaluate ongoing efforts is preferred.
  • Experience working with social media channels and leveraging social media to support marketing campaigns is required.
  • Experience tracking and analyzing data is required.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Expertise in digital marketing and communications, including social media and email marketing,
  • The ability to work collaboratively across departments, including those outside of the communications spectrum.
  • Highly motivated, self-starting individual with a proven ability to develop creative ideas and work as part of a team to bring those ideas to fruition.
