The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is a professional membership organization that works to promote high-quality early learning for all young children, birth through age 8, by connecting early childhood practice, policy, and research. NAEYC advances a diverse, dynamic early childhood profession and supports all who care for, educate, and work on behalf of young children.

Position Description

NAEYC is seeking a Global Engagement Project Manager to manage NAEYC's international projects. This individual will be responsible for the day-to-day management of activities supporting the design, development, and modification of project deliverables. In addition, this person supports the Senior Director, Global Engagement, in developing and implementing programs that provide technical assistance, information, guidance, and support to public and large-scale private entities abroad.

Primary Responsibilities and Key Objectives

  • Manage the Global Engagement projects, ensuring all milestones and deliverables are completed.
  • Work collaboratively across the association, supporting collaborative decision making and ensuring consistency between domestic and international products and approaches.
  • Contribute to an association environment conducive to teamwork, working to eliminate artificial boundaries and to ensure the free flow of information up, down, and across the organization.
  • Contribute in developing and implementing strategies to further the overall association mission and goals for quality and other duties as assigned.
  • Present informational sessions on NAEYC Global Projects, including presentations at NAEYC conferences, in-house workshops, and other settings both within the United States and abroad.
  • In collaboration with other staff and other departments, contribute to the development and periodic revision of informational training content.
  • Participate in cross-functional NAEYC work groups and other duties as assigned.

 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of database systems.
  • Supervisory skills and the ability to serve as an effective liaison with other managers and team members within NAEYC.
  • Develops positive, professional relationships based on dependability and honesty.
  • Sound analytical thinking used in informing decisions to increase the overall effectiveness of the overall operations.
  • Develops and delivers clear and concise messages in public speaking and writing.
  • Assumes responsibility and displays a strong personal commitment to the NAEYC work and mission.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education is desirable.


  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three years' experience managing international development contracts.
  • Five years' experience working in an international context experience working in the Middle East and North Africa region is desirable.
  • Three years' supervisory experience leading staff, contractors, and/or volunteers is desirable.
  • Functional use of Arabic is desirable.

Licenses/Special Requirements

  • Certified Project Manager.
